I’m very much a maximizer and dot connector. “I kept asking questions and wondering what people wanted and needed to continue to make my business better. I think that education of asking questions put me on a great trajectory in life,” Amos said. When someone would tell me, “I need a pair of snowboard boots,” I would always respond by asking where they were going, what they were doing and what kind of terrain they were expecting. The board shop was always much more than just selling a pair of boots. According to Kolbo, the board shop was a great success that kickstarted his ambition surrounding entrepreneurship. Six months later, at the young age of 16 years old, Kolbo launched his skate and snowboard shop, Amos 5-oh, on Main Street in Bismarck. His father asked him what he would do if he could do anything with his life.
